Is electrolytic capacitor recommended for NJM2783V? Can ceramic capacitors be used?

Audio Amplifiers

Both electrolytic capacitors and ceramic capacitors can be used, but electrolytic capacitors are superior to ceramic capacitors in the following respects.

  • Small DC bias dependence of electrical characteristics
  • Less vibration sound

For these reasons, electrolytic or film capacitors are often recommended for audio ICs. When the NJM2783V was first released, inexpensive aluminum electrolytic capacitors were widely used because ceramic capacitors of about 10uF had large bias dependence despite their high cost. For this reason, an example circuit using aluminum electrolytic capacitors is shown. Using ceramic capacitors does not cause any particular problem; ceramic capacitors should be used after ensuring that the capacitance values specified in the datasheet, including DC bias dependence, are maintained and that there is no vibration sound.
